about 10 mins is normal for a burn, not a few seconds as most people do...

Pete, if you havent got blisters where the oils got onto your skin, then CALOMINE LOTION is the best thing just dab it on with a cotton wool ball, if you dont have that then you could try aftersun lotion as its only the same as sunburn, but keep an eye on it for blistering, if it blisters put a wet cold clean tea towel on it and a bag of frozen peas.

just COOL water Peter, thats it, dont put anything else on it. if its just red, your fine, all you need is pain relief, then, over time, be careful not to scratch it etc, perhaps a very soft bandage BUT not straight away as you need air to get to it. the skin will heal but itll take a while if its a fat burn.

we doubled matey, wet cloth and iced peas, if its burst and is raw then cling film first then the cloth and iced peas.

Irrigate with cold water for as long as you can stand it, dont put any lotions or potions on it as they will only heat up and cause you more pain.

Water water water and more water

I'm a first aider for my company and this is the best advice, oh and dont burst the blister "Its there to protect"
